A year of research, writing and filming has finally born fruit in an hour long documentary to celebrate the long and varied history of this well known town and will reveal some surprising and hitherto unpublicised facts. With diverse connections from Shakespeare, King Canute, a Bronze Age Boat found by a road building crew, the first English speaking colony to be established in America, Ancient Rome, 'souvenier' gathering Tudor tourists to mad monks, a Jewish 'school marm' her Merseyside lover and the American Civil War, Spurs Football Club, the first flight across the Channel, James Bond, a Heavy Metal band and Guitar Heroes, to name but a few, I think we will have something of interest here for just about everyone. So many just pass through, going to or from the Port of Dover, this film showcases the immense history of the town. There are sad stories and funny stories, ghosts and lovers, peasants and kings and all under the gaze of one of the world's best known Castles atop the iconic White Cliffs.
